About this event

Dear Colleagues, Partners, and Friends,

We are thrilled to invite you to Power and Purpose 2024, a transformative event hosted by The Chicago Chapter Charities Foundation, Inc. (CCCF). This year’s theme, “See Me! Hear Me! Empower Me!: Promoting Black Maternal Health”, focuses on increasing awareness about this alarming public health crisis.   CCCF is elevating this conversation by addressing the Black Maternal Health Crisis at our sixth annual Power and Purpose Luncheon on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at the Union League Club of Chicago. This year’s gathering promises to be an extraordinary convergence of vision, action, and impact, and we are delighted to have you join us on this remarkable journey.

Power and Purpose 2024 celebrates our collective drive to make a difference by bringing together philanthropic, corporate, and civic leaders and the broader community to increase awareness of the societal impact of the Black maternal health crises. Black women are 2.6 times more likely to experience maternal mortality than white women, so this year’s program resonates deeply with our commitment to positive mental health and strong families. We aim to empower individuals and organizations by providing a platform for meaningful dialogue, inspiring leadership, and actionable strategies.

Our keynote speaker, Ms. Tonya Lewis Lee, director of the award-winning documentary “Aftershock,” will offer valuable insights into maternal mortality health issues for Black families. We are excited to recognize legislators shaping the future and challenging the status quo through advocacy and legislative action, including Lieutenant Governor Julianna Stratton and the Honorable Congressman Lauren Underwood.   Their passion and vision will inspire us to take bold action to reduce our country’s high Black maternal mortality rate.

The Members of CCCF believe in the power of community and the importance of coming together to drive progress. Power and Purpose 2024 is designed to be a space where connections are made, ideas flourish, and collaborations are born. You will witness our impact through our grants to three outstanding community organizations working to improve maternal health outcomes.

We invite you to be a part of this inspiring experience and the incredible impact we can create together.

Warm regards,
